CHEAP WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR SUMMER GARDEN

It won’t be long before the kids are off school for several weeks, and you’ll likely have to come up with lots of ways to keep them entertained. There are many ways you can prepare for your garden for your kids’ summer holidays that don’t break the bank; we’ve put together the best ideas that your little ones will enjoy.

A sensory garden:

Gather a series of different plants and flowers that have a variety of smells and textures. Its aim can be to grow vegetables, provide a calming area in the garden or simply a place where children can learn.

The easiest way to get started is by looking at a hardwood railway sleeper to place your plants or vegetables inside. Then as the plants begin to grow, take you children there for the afternoon and see what they discover.

A safe play area:

Kids love to run around and play, be it indoors or outdoors, but it can give you peace of mind that they have a dedicated area to play in the garden.

Using artificial grass that protects your garden and your children with a softer surface is ideal for constant hitting of shoes and outdoor toys. They’re also easy to maintain and keep clean for repeated use.

Complement your play zone, filled with painted seats and old cable drums, with opportunities to play games like tennis, rounders or even make a sports day event in your garden!

Build a playhouse:

A playhouse may be a perfect option for children after some time with their siblings or friends. Allow them the opportunity to help paint, decorate and make the space their own if they’d like to. You could make the entire process a really rewarding experience for them! Get them to help with the building, show them how to safely use the tools and create a small garden at the side filled with compost and some flowers or vegetables for them to look after.

Playhouses offer a place where children can build their imagination in your garden, where they can look after a mini home of their own. It’s also a great learning opportunity for your child that offers hours of endless fun in the summer months.
