We make sure Scotland has the right materials for the job

IBT Building & Timber (Merchants) Ltd is an Independent Builders Merchant supplying an excellent range of quality building and timber materials to the Trade and Public throughout East and West Central Scotland for over 20 years.

From our well situated site in Grangemouth, with its second to none transport links, we provide a first class service to everyone from large construction companies to the one off home improver. Our fleet of vehicles ensure a prompt delivery service.

Competitive pricing of materials and good stock levels are what our customers tell us that they need so this is at the forefront of our minds at all times. We are part of the National Buying Group (NBG) which has circa 90 members. Being part of this group, gives us access to quality, market leading products and the necessary competitive buying rates, which we can pass on to our customers.

We are also part of the Builders Merchant Federation (BMF) who actively promotes our industry and the opportunitites within our sector, as well as delivering training needs for our colleagues.

Whilst we feel that we are a competitive business that offers a first class service, we never want to stand still so from 2018, we embarked on a Branch Improvement Plan, which has delivered benefits to our customers through improvements to our infrastructure, fleet, product range, IT and staff development.  As part of this plan, we have undertaken the following:

  • Over 500 square metres of Yard concreted for new products and racking
  • Acquisition of 2 new Sheds
  • Creation of a Customer Car Park
  • Complete new fleet of lorries
  • IBT Website version 1 with version 2 planned for late 2025
  • New IT Operating System
  • Staff Welfare spaces created
  • Drive Thru Joinery Centre created with over 300 new stock lines
  • Over 100 local Charity and Community initiatives supported
  • Increased and enlarged Landscape Display
  • Apprenticeship Schemes introduced
